WEDGE PROGRAM

The Workforce Educational Development and Guidance for Employment (WEDGE) Program is a statewide initiative designed to help youth ages 8 to 26 build a brighter future. Through education, mentorship, workforce and career development. The WEDGE program provides the resources and support young people need to graduate, gain workforce skills, and explore career opportunities.

PROGRAM MISSION

WEDGE is committed to closing academic gaps, improving performance, and preparing youth for success in high school, college, vocational training, and the workforce. We offer customized support, hands-on experience, and career exploration to help each participant achieve their full potential.

PROGRAM GOALS

The four primary goals of the WEDGE Program are:

Assist students in matriculating to the next level and graduating from High School, College, Trade School, and Military
Develop entrepreneurship, workforce, trade, and employment skills
Offer mentoring, apprenticeships, coaching, and training to support youth in enhancing academic performance and achieving success in their careers and entrepreneurial endeavors
Support program participants in cultivating and developing skills, exploring entrepreneurship, and pursuing opportunities in the workforce, trades, and careers

Assistance with graduation and academic performance
Tutoring and mentoring to close learning gaps
Innovative summer programs
College, workforce, and career prep, including test prep and application assistance

Career & Workforce Readiness

Job shadowing, internships, apprenticeships, and credentialing programs
Job training and skill development for in-demand careers
Virtual and In Person work readiness workshops to build employability skills
Paid and unpaid work experiences to gain real-world experience

Mentorship & Leadership Development

One-on-one mentorship with experienced professionals
Community service opportunities to develop leadership skills
Workforce connections with industry leaders and employers

Support Services

Transportation assistance (bus passes, rides)
Childcare referrals for participants with children
Mental health and substance abuse support, with referrals to professionals
Self-sufficiency resources, including assistance in obtaining a driver’s license
